Topics Communication

Communication is central to everything we do. It requires a “sender” and a “receiver” of information. Breakdowns often occur when what was intended to be conveyed was misinterpreted. Research suggests that the majority of what has been communicated is through non-verbal means. Therefore, it is essential to make sure that there is harmony in how you say what you say.

By this, I am suggesting that your body language should be in sync with your verbiage. It is especially important in “how you say what you mean to convey” and to mean what was said. It is also note worthy to present your feelings, ideas, thoughts and emotions in a non confrontive manner to encourage a dialogue. We want to avoid intimidating someone and welcome them to freely respond.

Men and women often communicate in different ways. It has been said that men talk to solve problems while women talk to connect. Given the fact that each of us comes from unique circumstances and backgrounds, it is no wonder there is often a breakdown in our efforts to effectively interact with one another. This is especially true in marriage relationships.
